Newborn & Baby Photography
It’s such a cliche that babies grow so quickly, but they really do!
“Thank you so much. They are perfect. ”
Before you know it, you’ll have a toddler on your hands and wonder where that tiny baby disappeared to. By taking time to get a newborn photoshoot done, you will have something to treasure and look back on in years to come. Not only will you want to look back at it, but as they grow, your children will also be able to marvel at how tiny they once were.
I’ll come to you.
Getting out of the house with a newborn can be such a stressful experience and the last thing you want when you arrive at a photoshoot is to feel stressed - it’ll show in the pictures. As a natural, lifestyle photographer, I don’t need a studio or endless lighting equipment, baskets, rugs or props - just me and my (reasonably modest) camera bag.
You can stay put in the familiar surroundings of home and I can work round feeds, nappy changes, parcel deliveries and whatever else life throws at us on the day.
If you’d like to find out more about what a newborn baby photoshoot entails then get in touch and I’d be delighted to have a chat.
“Really loved your fresh approach and the lovely photos you took recently of our newborn grandson.”
Lifestyle or Posed? It's all so confusing!
If you are unsure exactly what ‘lifestyle’ newborn photography is, have a look at my portfolio.
The difference genres of newborn baby photography can be quite confusing and it is so important that you end up with pictures you love and treasure so I've written a blog post about the differences.
If you still have any questions about how it all works, get in touch and I'd be delighted to talk you though it some more.
Newborn FAQs
-
Normally I suggest that newborn baby shoots take place at your house so that you are all comfortable in your own surroundings without the stress of getting out to a certain place at a certain time. However, if you would prefer to meet me elsewhere, that’s absolutely fine. Its something we can chat through.
-
No. As I don’t do ‘posed’ newborn photography, there is absolutely no reason for me to need to handle your baby.
-
No. I have a couple of cameras in a bag and that’s it. Ideally I avoid any kind of flash photography with newborns but if it is necessary due to the ambient lighting, I use an on-camera flash that won’t be pointed directly at the baby (this is exceptionally rare). I travel light and keep my presence to a minimum.
-
Definitely not. I take you all as I find you. Usually during an hour long shoot, we’ll get some awake and some asleep time.
-
That’s entirely up to you. I’ll only ever do what you are all comfortable with.
-
Of course not. Lots of people decide to wait til their baby is a bit older (or don’t get round to booking anything in those mad, crazy early days!). I class ‘newborn’ as under 1s, but as each shoot is totally different, we can tailor it all to what you want to.
